What is this dressing designed for?
Dimora Transparent Film Dressing with Pad is designed to help protect minor wounds while absorbing light wound exudate.
According to the manufacturer, it may be used for wounds in the epithelialising phase, including post-operative wounds, abrasions, lacerations, skin graft and donor sites, minor burns and scalds.
What types of wounds may it be used for?
The manufacturer presents the dressing for minor wounds such as cuts, scrapes, abrasions, lacerations, blisters, minor burns and post-operative wounds.
The appropriate dressing will depend on the wound type, condition and amount of wound fluid. Please consult a healthcare professional if you are unsure whether this dressing is suitable.
Does the dressing contain an absorbent pad?
Yes. The dressing has an integrated absorbent low-adherent pad positioned in the centre of the transparent film.
The pad helps absorb light wound exudate while protecting the wound from direct contact with the adhesive portion of the dressing.
Is the dressing suitable for heavily exuding wounds?
This transparent film dressing has a relatively small absorbent pad and is generally intended for wounds with light exudate.
It may not provide sufficient absorbency for moderate or heavily exuding wounds. A more absorbent wound dressing may be required based on professional advice.
Is the dressing waterproof?
Yes. The polyurethane film is waterproof and helps protect the covered wound from external liquids.
For effective protection, ensure the dressing is applied smoothly to clean, dry skin and that the adhesive edges remain properly sealed.
Can I shower while wearing the dressing?
The waterproof film helps protect the covered wound during showering when the dressing is fully sealed and securely attached.
Avoid rubbing the dressing or directing strong water pressure at its edges. Replace it if water enters underneath or if the edges begin to lift.
Is the dressing breathable?
Yes. The polyurethane film is designed to allow moisture vapour to pass through while helping prevent external liquids from reaching the covered wound.
Is the entire dressing transparent?
The adhesive polyurethane film surrounding the wound pad is transparent. However, the central absorbent pad is not transparent and will cover the wound itself.
The transparent border allows the surrounding skin and adhesive seal to remain visible.
How should I apply the dressing?
Clean the wound and thoroughly dry the surrounding skin according to the instructions provided by your healthcare professional.
Open the sterile package, remove the protective backing and position the absorbent pad directly over the wound. Smooth the adhesive film onto the surrounding dry skin without stretching it.
Ensure the adhesive edges are fully sealed and free from wrinkles.
How should I remove the dressing?
Gently lift one corner of the transparent film and slowly peel the dressing back along the skin rather than pulling it directly upwards.
Remove it carefully to avoid unnecessary pulling on the surrounding skin. Follow the advice of a healthcare professional when caring for fragile or sensitive skin.
How often should the dressing be changed?
Dressing-change frequency depends on the wound condition, amount of exudate and guidance from a healthcare professional.
Replace the dressing if the absorbent pad becomes saturated, the edges lift, fluid leaks, or the dressing becomes wet, dirty, damaged or displaced.
Can the dressing be cut?
The dressing is designed with a central absorbent pad surrounded by a sealed adhesive film.
Cutting it may affect the absorbent pad, adhesive seal and waterproof protection. It is recommended to select an appropriately sized dressing instead of cutting it.
Is each dressing individually packaged?
Yes. Each dressing is individually packaged for hygiene and convenient storage or transport.
Is each dressing sterile?
Yes. Each dressing is supplied in an individual sterile package and is intended for single use.
Do not use the dressing if the package is damaged, already open or past its expiry date.
Can the dressing be reused?
No. Each sterile dressing is intended for single use only.
Do not wash, resterilise or reapply a previously used dressing.
